Landsmen 2005 to 2011

The two July 2015 posts will conclude the Landsmen series.

Vol. 15 – Nos. 1 – 2 (Double Issue) (2005)
Starting with this issue, under the Foreign Research Fund of the Suwalki-Lomza Interest Group, a series of Jewish Birth and Marriage records was extracted and published from 2007 to 2013 (and perhaps beyond but the website contents of Landsmen ends in April 2013 as of June 2015 posting).
In each case the records had not been filmed by the Mormons. I have grouped them together in a single post although they cover a period of six years. Presumably all birth, marriage, and death records in the Lithuanian State Historical Archives were filmed, but the inclusion of these records suggests that one must always keep looking for all available records.
Sometimes it is not what we know but rather what we don’t know that may lead us to the next step in our research.

The following articles focus on various Jewish records that were not been microfilmed by the Mormons on their visits to Vilnius in 2000 and 2002.

Mariampol Jewish Birth Records: Information for birth records includes Year, Event, Surname, Name, Age, Father, Patronymic of Father, Age, Mother, Patronymic of Mother, Age, What House Number and Street Born in, and Now living in.

Vol. 21, Nos. 1-2 (July 2011) Marjampol Jewish Birth Records: (1822, 1824-1830)

About suwalkigermans

I started family research in 1993. My first two books focused on my maternal grandparents. Both families came from Kreis Rosenberg, West Prussia, to Big Rapids, Michigan. I left the Spurgats from Wylkowiszki in the Russian Empire as the third book because of the difficult and challenging research it required. After I published the book in 2010, I wondered what to do next. I thought I might try to share some of my research with others and maybe at the same time, by going digital, someone would find me. When you read the comments, you will see that happened. The best part of all this is helping others.
